Earthworks and Foundations
The Riyadh Metro is a rapid transit system under construction in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
 
Our scope of work includes the Design, supply and execution of Reinforced Soil Walls at the Western Depot Station by using the high end Huesker Muralex System involves earthwork activities of reinforced soil backfilling and compaction (in 600 millimeters soil layering intervals) with the infilling works which  required for the Muralex system facing.
 
The scope of works for the Ecological Walls were performed in two phases:
 
Phase 1: Ecological wall length was 380 meters with maximum wall height up to 22.6 meters completed in August 2015.
 
Phase 2 : Ecological Wall length was 387 meters with maximum wall height up to 9.8 meters completed in December 2015.
 
The Scope of work also includes the execution of Reinforced Concrete wall located at the top of the Ecological Wall.
 
The Ecological walls design was based on Huesker’s Muralex system, a wraparound Geosynthetic reinforced soil (GRS) wall or slope with steel mesh and infill crushed aggregate/stones as a final wall facing.
The Muralex system was executed by  using an innovative climbing safety and shutter formwork  developed by GES/Huesker team.

  • Huesker/ Geogrid/ Fortrac T
  • Steel Wire Mesh with anchoring system
