Dewatering Methods
 
 Deep Well Dewatering:

Deep well dewatering is applicable for deep excavations and where soil permeability is moderate to high. Deep well systems also work well where groundwater pressures are high. Capable of pumping hundreds of thousands of gallons of water per minute, deep well systems are e ective when there are large volumes of groundwater. When you are faced with controlling large volumes of water, consider MGES’s extensive deep well dewatering experience. Our large, rotary drill rigs combined with our line of electric submersible pumps to provide you with solutions that push water up from the bottom of the well and through a discharge piping system. In addition, we can supply generators to power your pumps and jobsite when power is unavailable.

Well Point Dewatering Installation Services:

Well point systems are used to lower groundwater levels to provide stable working conditions. This is done with a series of small to medium diameter wells connected by a header pipe to a centrifugal pump. The pump initiate’s a vacuum in the header pipe drawing water up from the ground. Well points are typically installed around a shallow excavation area were the water table is to be lowered to a height of 6-8m.The well point system is easy to maintain for a long period of time. Under many conditions, well point systems provide the most e ective and economical dewatering option.

Sump Pumping:

Sump pumping is applicable for shallow excavations in nature with high permeable soil, and for some studied cases where deeper excavations in big rocks were there are no concerns of instability due to uncontrolled seepage. Sump pumping is very reliable and simple. Groundwater flows into the excavation area and is allowed to collect in sumps where it is then pumped away through a system of hoses and pipes. Sump pumping can be e ective in many circumstances but irresponsible control seepage can and will create major problems such as instability and a dangerous construction area. The discharged disposed water has to be treated prior to disposal.

Siphon Drainage:

The siphon drain process is the best solution to work with unstable slopes. Siphon draining works by pumping water through a gravity force along pipes. Wells are installed in or above the unstable slope and pumped using siphons which exploit the natural sloping nature. The wells reduce the pore pressure increasing the e ective stress. Siphon drainage is used for low ow rate pumping where a natural slope can allow the system to operate effectively.
